Chapter 1606


 

1. The MGIB-SR program may be available to you if you are a traditional driling soldier (that is not AGR).


2. You may use the MGIB-SR for any degree program, certificate program, correspondance course, cooperative training, independent study programs, on the job training, trade or vocational school, and flight training programs. Download the How To Apply for Reserve GI Bill Benefits Sheet

Chapter 1607


Chapter 1607 (REAP) is available to soldiers who answered the call of duty on or after September 11th, 2001 for 90 consecutive days or more in support of contingency operation may be eligible. Alert your VA Rep prior to attending school by submitting your DD-214, a VA FORM 22-1990, and your EMS statement (available by logging in).

MGIB Kicker


Some soldiers may also be eligible to receive additional benefits through the ARNG Kicker program. This program applies only to specific critical MOS's, MTOE units, and deployable TDA units. Soldiers must meet the eligibility requirements and have signed a valid kicker contract in order to qualify.

Chapter 30 MGIB-Active Duty


The MGIB-AD program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances.

How do I get started?


 

Well, that depends. If you just joined the military (non-prior service) you need to log onto Virtual Armory and print out your 'Notice of Basic Elegibiity' and submit it to your school. The GI Bill benefits are different for each individual Soldier and if interested in finding out what you could be eligible for, contact 1LT Kurt Rauschenberg and he will help you. You can also call the Dept of Veterans Affairs at 1-888-GIBILL1, or the GI Bill Support Team at 1-866-628-5999.

Your school has a Veterans Affairs representative who is looking forward to helping you with your GI Bill


You may lose eligibility for your MGIB-SR 14 years after your first eligibility date!


You may qualify for more than one GI Bill program, check with your VA representative or 1LT Kurt Rauschenberg to find out.
